"The great use of life is to spend it for something that outlasts it."
— William James
Building a legacy involves more than hitting your predefined personal goals. You have to create a foundation for others to achieve their goals if you truly want to make an impact. James' personal goal is to help develop the next generation of leaders. He accomplishes this by mentoring others and sharing his life experiences and knowledge though various organizations and programs.
Whether it's working with students and guiding them through the process of starting their careers, mentoring new project managers through the PMP exam process, serving on the board of directors for non-profit organizations, or as a guest speaker he always strives to help others achieve their definition of success. Mr. Peterson is involved with many social outreach organizations including the BDPA, National Black MBA Association, the Project Management Institute and Toastmasters.
